The JACL is known for its leadership in the civil rights arena, but it also provides the opportunity for social networking and scholarship. What type of JACL youth activities interest you? What has been your favorite JACL activity or event?

JA Identity

The 2005 JACL National Youth/Student Conference in Salt Lake City addressed the topic of Japanese American identity. By participating in cultural workshops and engaging in group discussions, young JACLers focused on the concept of Japanese American identity.

The 2006 JACL Min Yasui Oratorical Competition extended this topical area by asking contestants to answer "what, if anything, makes us Japanese American today? What can or should be done to strengthen or redefine this identity?"
